Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

Apart from the storyline bosses in Lost Odyssey, the game contained some hidden bosses as well. Some might be easy to find but other requires you to complete certain sidequest in order to unlock them.

Be warned though, these optional bosses can be a can of whupped ass. So if you are under level or under equip then you might end up on the floor face down as fast as you started. However, with a little preservation and tactics, these bosses will not be as hard as they sounded to be ;-)

1. GONGGORA’S MANSION - Secret Experimental Laboratory

Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

You can trigger this event by breaking one of the Royal Seals in Gonggora’s Mansion in Disc 4. Once broken, you will find a path to the secret Lab. This area is pretty straight forward with a few well hidden treasure. Just Make sure you explore each corner.

Treasures found in the area
1. Composite Magic Record - Invisible Treasure SideQuest
2. Flarus Bomb
3. 5,000G
4. Seed - Seed SideQuest
5. Groundus Bomb
6. Magical Lock Key - Back Yard Tournament SideQuest
7. Magical Crystal x 6
8. Goddess Medicine
9. Pendulum x 3
11. Demon King’s Horn + Demon’s King Ring - Treasure Hunt SideQuest

2. PERSONA - Old Sorceress Mansion
Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

This is probably one the real optional bosses in the game. You can fight her in the Old Sorcerrer’s Mansion. When you visited the mansion an event between Ming, Mack and Sarah will be triggered.

Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

Proceed inside and continue through the Courtyard and into the Hermitage area. Upon entering the back room ( where you frst met Sarah ), there should an event and you will see the Boss - Persona emerging.

Persona
HP: 12,780
TYPE: -
ELEMENTS: Wind
ITEMS: 88 Caliber Magic Rifle
DROPS: 88 Caliber Magic Rifle

Tactics:
Just like her name, persona will have 2 different faces in the battle. The first would be Physical( all magic will be absorb )- you will know when you can see her face facing you, Magical ( all physical attack will be absorb ) - you will know when she turn her face away. She will reverse her status at random so it’s hard to anticipate each round.

A mix of good physical and magic attacker is crucial. Since Kaim is my best fighter, i put him and only him in front. Doing so can increase your back row defense. At the same time, Anti Petrify, Absorb Magic, Absorb Attack, and Anti Poison would be critical in surviving her many magic attack such as Death, Shinus, Forceus and all the status ailments attacks.

Just use Combo when she’s in her physical form while magic like gamble is good when she’s on her opposite form. Overall, she’s not that hard if you maintain all the status ailment at bay while maintaining your team HP.

Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

Persona carry a good weapon for Sed - you can try to steal it early and utilize it right away or just wait until you kill her off. Other reward is Sarah’s Notebook - that can teach you the Absorb Fire skill

3. KING KELOLON - Kelolon Village
Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

You can only trigger the fight after you have acquired the White Boa in Disc 4. However, Kelolon Village have a few other goodies that are tied with sidequest such as the final seed, the final Royal Seal as well as Sed missing crew member. So i suggest you trigger the missing crew member event before coming here.

Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

To reach Kelolon Village, just punch in the ice barrier on the northern side of the map with White Boa. You should now have access to the central lake near Ipsilon. Just dispatch the Nautilus underwater and just look for an underground passage. Go in and submerged to reach the hidden village.

Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

Once you enter the village, an event will trigger about an on going tournament in the village. Just proceed in because there are a few goodies scattered around the Village such as the final seed, Kelolon Soul x 2 , Goodly Dragon Tears and the Final Royal Seal that should give you the Quad Element Amulet.

Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

If you have Sed on your team formation, an event will be triggered where by, you will meet one of Sed’s missing crewman being attacked by some Kelolons. You need to defat all the kelolons in order to save him.

Now that everything is settle. You will have to enter the tournament being held in the village. The tournament is basicaly a series of fights using Cooke only. It is actually a series of 6 battle that she has to go through before the final battle.

There no special strategy needed for all of these fight if you have equip Cooke with the Kelo-Killer Ring. Usually it will take 1-2 hit except for Uncle Kelolon, Wifeena, the level 99 Kelolon and Mack. This due to their high HP. One thing to remember is to keep Cooke HP high and don’t trouble yourself with magic because she will do more damage with physical attack.

Strategy
I’m not sure what to do with this battle because, when i was battling him, the King will only cast Coverus which will absorb most of the physical attack. I was told that the King has another magic attack - Divide, but i didn’t get the chance to see it in action. Just keep hitting him with Combo, Gamble and any Earth type magic and the King should go down easy.

5. Death Powder x 5

CAVE WORM
HP: 10,180

ITEMS: -
DROPS: -

Strategy
Seth will be compulsory in this battle while the rest is up to you but i suggest that you uses all of your best magic user because the cave worm will cast Complete Defense which will invulnerable to attack. The best offense would be Tolten’s Break Hit, Combo and Gamble is an awesome which can inflict huge hit ( random )

Apart from that, make sure you have at least LV 2-3 composite because Cave Worm can cast Stench that can inflict all sort of ailments. Absorb Magic and Absorb Attack is perfect to counter the Worm Triple Attack and Earth Shake.

Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

In order to meet the Blue Dragon, you need to follow the Blue Particle Wind that you encounter when you are in the area. Just follow the source of these magic particle wind and you should end up meeting the dragon eventually. Just remember that your MP will gradually drained when you are in these blue particle wind. So item up from time to time.

ELEMENTS: None
ITEMS: -
DROPS: Blue Dragon Eye

Strategy
Blue Dragon can be a pain in the ass if you are not prepare. first off, just make sure you don’t have anything elementals attached to your weapon because the Dragon will absorb everything elementals. If you have Lv3 rings that have Organic Killer then equip your best attacker with it. Since Blue Dragon will cast Leveler, Persistance is crucial for your survival.

As for offensive, I use a lot of Combo, Forcea and Gamble attack to finish him off.

Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

Reward
Achievement
Leveler - Lv 8 Black Magic
Blue Dragon Eye

6. HOLY BEAST - Numara Atoll
Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

You probably have been to Numara Atoll back in Disc 1 but you have never seen the Holy Beast which roam the area. There is a trick to unlocking her.

Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

First, you need to acquire Ming’s Harp. You can get it once you have control the White Boa. Just go to the room where Ming’s was playing her harp. There will be a short event before you acquire the harp.

Lost Odyssey - Complete Optional Boss guide

Now that you have gotten the key needed to trigger the Holy Beast event, travel to Numara Atoll. Ming will start playing her harp in order to lure the beast out and the battle will start

HOLY BEAST
HP: 14,020
TYPE: Beast
ELEMENTS: Water
ITEMS: 1000 Year Memories
DROPS: 1000 Year Memories

Strategy
Holy Beast is not as strong as compared to the previous bosses. However, she does have a high defense for physical attacks. she will also cast water mine every time you start physically attacking her. She also will cast an array of elemental magic attack so absorb magic and absorb attack is essential for this battle as well as persistence because her biggest arsenal would probably be Hopelessness that van inflict 9,999 on everyone!

As for offensive, I use a lot of Forcea and Gamble attack in this battle, some physical attack like Break Hit is also a good choice.

I also would like to congratulate Mistwalker and Artoon for developing an awesome RPG and Microsoft for publishing this great game on their platform. I hope this will pave way to more good J-RPG on the platform, which really what 360 need in the over saturated Shooter like games on their portfolio.

    Terrace Cave location
The cave is located south western of Numara

first the cave is located underwater - so you need to dive in with the Nautilus - look for an opening on the wall…just dive in and resurface..you should appear in the cave.

And the treasure containing the Master hief Tools x12 is located in the middle of the map. The map is a bit tricky since there are a lot of waterslide which wil slide you down the path….so you need to be carefull not to miss the chest.

    Good Luck!

    Seraph Says:

Mat - The best way to kill KillaLon (the mechanical Kelolon at the bottom of the Experimental Staff remains) is to make sure that all 4 immortals have the skills doublecast, crisis defence, and the magic reversa. Also make sure that Sed is in your party. Now for the strategy - Get your immortals down to critical levels in a previous battle, how you do this is up to you…whatever you find easiest, then go to the boss. The second the fight starts, throw 2 of the weakest potions to 2 of your immortals. This should make crisis defence activate. Then just hammer away with doublecast reversa. Next turn, use the small potions on the other 2 immortals and then hammer away with reversa again. Using that method, I had him dead in 3 turns.

    Hope that helps!
