Wordpress - white screen of death!

Some of us who uses Wordpress as their core blog engine may have heard about the infamous “White Screen of Death” – for some it was just another word until it actually happened. Well, that dreadful time hit me late Friday morning.

At first i was confidence that there were nothing to worry about – i have read countless forums and solution if it were to happened. Like a naive boy, i started my recovery path with googling the very word and sure enough tons of solution pops into the screens.

Hours grew into days and none of the solution seems to have any effects…my front page is still blank and i’m still log out of my very on admin page. Not giving up, i tried all possible solution from disabling all my plugins and theme which are said to be the main culprit to most of the incidents. The result is no promising, the problem still lingers.

Suddenly i read a post which sound similar to what i was facing. The error was something to do with my Wp-Option table and sure enough, following the clear instruction posted in the website i finally found the very culprit that was wrecking my brains for the pat 3 days.

So the moral of the story,

1. Always back up your critical files ( often )
2. Wordpress.org is you best friend in need
3. Use google to assist find the root cause and probably the solutions
4. Ask around ( even if the answer is not given immediately )
5. Don’t Panic! ( yeah right! )

I’m still diagnosing the issues and the impact it has cause on the site. So if you find any error or issues please inform me.

Chron job that database – I get all my DBs zipped and emailed to me daily… No need to backup the pesky DB.

As for those important files, I’m pretty sure you can automate the process yourself.

Well done for fixing though :D
