Final Fantasy XIII – western theme song “My Hand”

Final Fantasy XIII - western theme song

Final Fantasy FFXIII worldwide release was not a surprise ( hinted before ) but the exclusion of Nobuo Uematsu composed theme song “Kimi Ga Iru Kara” was a big blow to some of long time fans. FFXIII will be the first to feature a licensed song – ‘My Hands’ by Leona Lewis. I have heard the song before and it’s a great ballad by a great singer but will FFXIII will be the same without Mr Uematsu brilliance? I guess we have to see how it all blend when the game is release March next year.

Leona Lewis is a competent, but uninspiring artist. It’ll be like watching a bad AMV on YouTube…

I am thoroughly disappointed at a lack of Uematsu genius

I think it’s completely appalling Kimi ga Irukara wasn’t put in the english version. The English corporations need to get their heads out of their “you know whats”. Final Fantasy IS a Japanese game after all.

However, Kimi ga Irukara wasn’t composed by Uematsu Nobuo. Hamauzu Masashi was the one who did the entire soundtrack for FF13 as well as Kimi ga Irukara. The lyrics were written by Nakajima Yukino and Sugawara Sayuri. Sayuri’s the one perfoming the song.

No matter who composed it, they should’ve just left well enough alone. To me that sort of stunt always looks like they’re trying to hide the fact it’s a Japanese game. “My Hand” hardly fits with the story and only on just one level. Kimi ga Irukara fits every aspect and is much more beautiful in the over all atmosphere of the game. Instead, there’s just some woman I never heard of making a lot money off of something she has nothing to do with. Leona Lewis… never heard of her, yet the game’s booklet has a full page advertisement for this “Best Selling New Artist” from “Final Fantasy XIII’s Powerful Track”, a “Triumphant Brand New Album”. Yeah, right. Didn’t care for “My Hand”… hundreds others just like it. How dare she try and sell herself with FF13! It should of been HER privilege, not theirs.
