Summon Night Granthese: Sword of Ruin and the Knight’s Promise is probably one of the last few games you’re going to play on your Playstation 2 – assuming it comes to the western market ( which is unlikely ). Flight Plan may have retained the Summon Night name but the game mechanics have been completely reverse from the typical SRPG to a action adventure RPG. So far, the trailer have had me interested. The Playstation consoles have produced some memorable space shooter/shooter games such as the Colony Wars’ Trilogy, G-Police, Sky Gunner, Omega Boost, Zone of Enders/ Zone of Enders: 2nd Runner. However, as the year gone by, the genre seems to be lost in transition. Yeah, you do have your Ace of Combat series and a few space shooter like Squarenix’s Project Sylpheed, Insomniac’s Warhawk and the more recent ones like Ubisoft’s HAWX but nothing have come close to revitalizing the genre as a whole. Okami is probably one of the most underrated games to hit the playstation 2. Personally, the visual style and game mechanics were excellent even before the Wii version was released. But those you stuck with the game until the end is treated to an excellent ending theme – “Reset” sung by Ayaka Hirahara. Continue reading
